Beginners are always welcome at the Brisbane Dojo. Regardless of your age, sex, or current physical disposition, you can begin karate training and enjoy it.
Karate is more than a physical exercise regime or a method of self-defense; it is a way of life, it is something that can be enjoyed by any and everyone.

We are operating in the basement area behind the main building and next to the swimming pool. Facilities include fully matted area, hanging punching bag and a range of equipment to make you work!
If it is your first time training at this location please arrive early so you can familiarise yourself with the location of the new dojo.

Class Descriptions
General karate classes
General class is open to every one of all levels. It covers all aspects of general karate practice and incorporates both ancient and modern methodology of karate training, covering kihon (basics), kata (forms), Go shin jitsu (self defence), as well as Full Contact fight training.
It is designed to give you a complete understanding of the Kyokushin system, from beginners through to advanced students. Furthermore, along with the skills of karate it incorporates the fundamental elements of fitness, strength, and flexibility.
Under the guidance of qualified instructors each student progresses at their own pace until they become proficient in the skills of karate.
Beginner karate classes
If you are new to Kyokushin Karate or would just like to improve/work on your technique this is the class for you. It will give you an introduction and help you master the techniques of kihon (basics) and ido geko (moving basics). Other topics covered will range from correct technique for holding pads, self defence, stances, kata etc.
Tournament training (Fight Class)
Tournament training is aimed at the people interested in learning more about the fundamental aspects of the Kyokushin Karate style of tournament fighting. This class is open to students who are interested in improving their fighting skills. Classes can consist of skill drills, pad work and sparring amongst other activities. Please ensure that you bring your supporters with you – shin guards and gloves at minimum.
NOTE: Students must have graded 1 time before attending this class.
Fees
First time
People who wish to try Kyokushin karate for the first time can train in their first class free.
Membership
IKO Membership – $50 (once off)
Brisbane Dojo Membership – $25 (Paid Annually)
The once off IKO Membership fee entitles you to international membership to the IKO (International Karate Organisation Kyokushinkaikan), which grants you internationally recognised grades and gives you the ability to train in any dojo in any country throughout the world.
The $25 fee is an annual fee and provides membership to the Kyokushin Brisbane Dojo.

Grading Fee
Grading fees are due on the day of the grading. Please remember that you need prior permission from your instructor to grade.
