Kyokushin Brisbane is part of the International Karate Organization Kyokushinkaikan, founded by Sosai Masutatsu Oyama and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
The IKO is led by Kancho Shokei Matsui. Its branches share a common technical system, grading structure, philosophy and international community.
Shihan Dominic Hopkins serves as Australian Branch Chief, maintaining the Brisbane dojo's direct relationship with the organisation in Japan.
